The IPMS (UK) annual competition at Scale Model World attracts the very best model makers from around the globe. There are nearly 100 separate classes, with more than 50 further special trophies awarded.

The competition is open to any IPMS members from any IPMS affiliated country, juniors and adults alike.

For my completion entry, I chose to enter one of my favourite sports bikes into the ‘Civilian Vehicle - Motorcycle, any scale’ class. The Tamiya 1/12 scale Ducati 888 Superbike was built over several months, utilising both

set A and set B ‘GB Models’ up-grade packs along side many other self detailed parts. The judges deemed this to be one of their favourites and gave it a first place gold award, fending away some truly magnificent competition. Being part of such a well respected group of elite modellers and taking the gold was a truly humbling experience.

To complete the GB Models built Ducati 888 journey, it has also featured in print across 12 pages in the Tamiya Model Magazine International (issue 326) simply entitled  - ‘Tripple Eight’. There you can read all about the build journey and my experience accompanied by lots of full colour images.
